Hello, Hopefully I can keep this short and someone can help.
I am creating a very large map of the coast where I live. I am using the Google Hybrid Map from SAS Planet and have downloaded the KML's from zoom 7-18 in separate zoom folders. I then created the jgw files in each folder. So far, so good.
Now, when creating the At5 files I have done so individually at each zoom level with corresponding resolution. zoom 18-1, 17-2, 16-4......8-1024, 7-2048. The issue is size. at zoom 18 with resolution of 1, those AT5 files are over 100G just for zoom 18. Now I dont need everything to have that zoom capability or that high of a resolution so I have done the entire map from zoom 7 to 16 at resolutions 2048 to 4. I end up with file size being around 8G up to zoom 16. Now I do want areas of the map to be able to zoom into 17 and 18. I created small sections of zoom 18 at resolution 1 and then created slightly larger areas for zoom 17 at resolution 2. Zoom 16 covers the entire map.
Now when I do this with a small section of the map, zooming in and out looks just fine even in areas that dont have the zoom 17 and 18. when I do much larger sections, all the areas that dont have zoom 17 or 18, just turn black.
I thought about just removing zoom 17 and 18 and creating zoom 16 with resolution from 1 through 4, but even that is too large.
Is there something else I can do to make this work? Anything I should change? How do I make really large maps without the zoom on my lowrance turning black at a high zoom levels or without being too large of file size?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
