IMC Image Boundary option removed from v0.7.4.0
« am: 01 September 2014, 12:44:11 »
Hi guys.

Just downloaded a few maps through the new version of IMC and there is no longer the option to remove image boundary.

I know have a big black border around the image.

Does anyone know how to remove this black border?

Cheers

Lee

The option got switched to a per pixel filter.

Functionally, 0 (off) and 1 (on) operate the ways they always have but now you can be quite a bit more selective with the filter.

The option itself always seemed like a hack.  Now, it's less of a hack.

Thanks IMC guru.

Basically I am a mapping newbie.

So this is how i understand it and hopefully this is correct

Value = 0. This puts the big black border around the tiles that were not downloaded but within a relative area
Value = 1. This removes the black box or shows a extremely thin box

The greater the value above 1 the thicker the black box becomes?

Sorry for the silly questions, as I have always relies upon 3rd parties for maps but now where I fish there are none.

Cheers

From my memory, that understanding is correct.

On holiday so don't have direct access to the application right now.

There should be a tooltip explaining the functionality if you hover over the option.

The best way to implement this is still through the Raster Shapefile Filter rather than the alpha filter.

I apologize for resurrecting an old topic, but I have a question regarding this feature. The latest update has the new feature for "Filter Alpha." If we want ZERO black border, then do we set Filter Alpha to ZERO or 65,535?

As always, thank you for any feedback.

A value of 1 prevents the black border completely.
A value of 0 turns off the filter.

Think of it this way:

A tile is 256x256 (65536) pixels.
If there is X pixels that would be a black border, the tile is filtered.
A tile that is completely a black border is always filtered regardless of this setting.

Thank you for the fast reply! If I understand correctly, then setting the Alpha Filter to 1 will remove the black border completely from our units?

Great! That explains why I had issues. Thank you, sir.

I was putting 65535 as the setting thinking that's how many pixels would blocked from showing a black border, but you put me on the right path. Thanks again!
