So i will first try that search an replace things.
I will use the EditPad Lite http://www.editpadlite.com/ for huge files.

@Sven: why converting to PBF. IMC could read the OSM files ?

The xml files waste too much space on my laptop and i've got the feeling that the IMC processes the pbf Files slightly faster than xml.

When processing the .OSM files, you must either cache all records or you must create and maintain a separate database.

When processing the .PBF files, the IMC takes advantage of the internal structuring of the .PBF file instead of caching all records.

Inside the IMC, the .OSM parsing will use 20-50 times more memory than the .PBF parsing.
