Excellent information. Thank you fjordfischer for pointing me to the Greenfish editor.  I have downloaded the software in case I feel the need to make another custom icon in the future.

In deviation from the instructions for icons, we now recommend the free Greenfish Icon Editor Pro.

In the picture you can see the settings for a transparent background.

When it comes to colors, you should always try to use the standard screen colors. You can find these by clicking on the three dots at the bottom right. The color must be selected in the left window next to the transparent window for the background (checkerboard pattern).

Save the result e.g. B. as a bmp file for insertion into the IMC icon library.

I found the information in this thread to be very useful, but I still struggled a bit while trying to create my own icon for the first time. 

I wanted to create an ochre hand print icon to represent locations on a map of Anishinaabe pictographs found along shoreline cliffs in Canada. There are a lot of different types of pictograph images, but the simple hand print is one of the most common.  What I struggled with most was creating an icon with a transparent background.  Initially I tried to take a PNG file with a transparent background and resize the image to a suitable size.  I struggled with this as it seems resizing the image changes the background to be non-transparent.  Perhaps I was not using the correct tool as I am not a graphic artist.

Through a lot of trial and error I found an online icon creator that was able to create an icon by selecting individual pixels and I could then create an icon image with a transparent background.  The online tool(Faviconer) had the option of importing an image, but again this did not work for me, I had to create an image from scratch by selecting each pixel to get IMC to show a transparent background. 

I am not sure what others have used to get this done.  I suspect there are a million different ways to accomplish this, but it seemed more difficult for me than it should have been. Faviconer created a very small icon(16x16), but it worked out for me, as that is what I was looking for, as to not be too distracting on my map.   

I have used the icons found in the .dat file from the anglingcharts website before, but I could not find a suitable icon in this case and decided to make my own.

Perhaps there was a slight change when the site was brought back online, but I found that the social map has now changed to use a dash instead of an underscore. C-Map instead of C_Map.


Use the descriptor (D=Social Map|M=C-MAP) when making your own maps if you want them to overlay with the social maps.

ich habe ein HDS PRO neu gekauft. Momentan aktuellste Software ist drauf.

Nach Inbetriebnahme musste ich leider feststellen, die Kommunikation mit der Website von C-Map ist nicht möglich. Also kurz gesagt, direkt vom Gerät die Sonar Logs hoch- und runterladen ist nicht. Drück man auf den blauen Knopf, folgt kurz der Ladebalken und dann kommt ein schwarzer Bildschirm. :-/

Mir ist bewusst, es gab da einen Sicherheitsvorfall bei Brunswick. Allerdings ist das nun auch schon länger her. Der Lowrance und C-MAP Support teilte mir mit, momentan gehe das noch nicht wieder... es steht aber auch in den Sternen wann (und ob überhaupt) das wieder in Gang kommt. Beim "Store" links im Hauptmenü gleiches Problem. Ich bin schwer enttäuscht. :-/ Insbesondere weil die Workarounds (über den Computer) bekanntermaßen unhandlich sind. Ich wollte bei Angeltrips auch ungern ein Notebook mitschlüren.

Mit welchen Workarounds behelft Ihr Euch denn?
Und stört sich wirklich niemand außer mir an dem Problem?

Ich fand den Ansatz des direkt kommunizierenden Geräts mit dem C-MAP Portal genial. Endlich keine schlecht programmierte Basel-Software vom Hersteller mehr dazwischen und kein Gefummel mit irgendwelchen SD-Karten.

Hallo Günther,
Deine Konstellation kann und wird so nicht funktionieren.
Entweder steckst Du beim Wechsel des Nutzungsortes auch den Geber um oder Du installierst einen zusätzlichen Geber für die zweite Halterung.
Evtl. wäre es eine Option, das Geberkabel (eines Gebers) aufzutrennen und an beide Halterungen parallel anzuschließen. Hierzu würde ich aber empfehlen, zunächst bei Garmin anzufragen, damit etwaige Beschädigungen ausgeschlossen werden können, da nicht bekannt ist, inwiefern die Halterung lediglich eine passive Komponente ist oder bereits aktive, elektronische Komponenten enthält.
