GO9 XSE Software Update

Release Date: 20 May 2020

Version: 20.0

We are pleased to announce the release of 20.0 software for Simrad GO multifunction displays.

This release is only for GO5 XSE, GO7 XSR, GO9 XSE and GO12 XSE

Features:

New Instrument app

The instruments “App” now available on Simrad GO displays has replaced the former instruments page.

The new look and feel gives a modern aesthetic refresh to match the style of the rest of the system.

Dual mode Wi-Fi

    The GO series MFDs can now connect to the Internet AND connect to a mobile device to perform functions such as screen mirroring via the Link App or registration via the Simrad companion app at the same time.
    Previously there were two WiFi modes and users would switch between client OR access point.
    There are new menu items under Settings > Wireless which makes connecting to the Internet and connecting to mobile devices much easier.

Simrad mobile companion app: Product registration

The new Simrad companion app available for Android and iOS devices works with compatible Simrad multifunction displays for an even richer experience – provides

    Device registration
    Manual downloads
    Mobile charting app
    Passage planning
    Ability to back up waypoints routes and tracks that can be accessed both on and off the water

Backup & synchronize data to cloud passage planner

    C-MAP offers online and app based detailed nautical charts in a clear and sleek design, providing all the information you need to navigate or fish at anytime, anywhere. C-MAP covers seas and lakes worldwide and is part of the new Simrad companion app.
    Synchronise user created data such as routes, waypoints and tracks between the Simrad Companion App, or the C-MAP online chart and compatible MFDs
    The former C-MAP icon on the system control menu has changed to “Synchronize my data”

NaviOp performance improvements

Vessels with a compatible NaviOp system, NaviOp will now run natively as part of the operating system on the GO7 XSR or GO12, providing a faster and more responsive user experience. Easier to use, it can now be displayed full screen or as part of a split screen and will feature on the display’s homepage.

Ghost Trolling Motor Support

When a Ghost trolling motor is connected there is now sidebar for all controls

    Anchor: at current location, at waypoint, at cursor
    Heading lock: with heading adjustment
    Speed control
    Navigation control of routes

Power-Pole® Control

Simrad GO multifunction displays can now control Power-Pole shallow water anchor systems. Communication to the Power-Pole system is via Bluetooth.

When connected to a Power-Pole system there is a new Control Bar icon. This will show controls for each connected power pole.

Power-Pole Charge

The Power-Pole battery charge management system displays battery status information.

    Engine battery/batteries
    Battery connections
    Power-Pole charge module
    Auxiliary battery/batteries
    Charge module AC power source connection

Support for up to six Mercury ® Engines

Mercury ® VesselView Link update over NMEA 2000

Mercury Vessel View Link modules can now be updated via the network from a Simrad MFD. Removing the need to install an updated SD card directly into the black box.

Mercury ® autopilot features unlocked

The Mercury autopilot features, Drifthook, Bowhook, and Heading Adjust are now unlocked and no longer require purchase

Fixes & Improvements

    Added NMEA 2000 MOB PGN 127233
    Fix for missing sea temperature on some transducers
    An alteration to the internal GPS following some reports from the field that the MFDs are creating too many track points when the source for position is an Internal GPS
    AIS own vessel icon not aligning to the AIS Vessel orientation setting under Settings > Vessels
    New MFDs made after January 2020 will no longer be able to install software that was released before the date of the units manufacture. The manufacture date located on the About screen called the “Factory software date stamp”
    If a Rhodan trolling motor is connected to the NMEA 2000 network, the trolling motor is supported and can be controlled from the MFD. For more information about this trolling motor, refer to Rhodan.
    General performance and stability enhancements
    Thermal logging in the background has been added to assist in service matters
    New progress bar displays when calculating Auto Routing
    Fix to prevent the fuel remaining source changing after a power cycle
    Fix for some units not remembering Navionics sonar chart live settings after a power cycle

Das GO7 XSE ist nicht dabei. Komisch!  :weisnicht1:

Es wird anzunehmen sein, dass wie bei allen Geräten die Firmwareunterstützung nach einer gewissen Zeit eingestellt wird. Das betrifft aber nicht nur Navico, sondern auch andere Unternehmen. Es kann sich aber auch um eine Verzögerung handeln, wenn die Geräteklassen abweichende Features haben.

Hallo,

ich habs heute auf meinem GO9 installiert.
Die neue Instrumenten Seite ist sehr schön und lässt sich auch super nach den eigenen Bedürfnissen anpassen.
Aber ich habe schon gemerkt, dass die Prozessorleistung etwas zu wünschen lässt, die Ladezeiten der Instrumenten App sind schon manchmal sehr lang.
Mir ist aufgefallen, dass die Wassertiefe im Netzwerk/in den Menüs nicht angezeigt wird. Da muss Simrad noch nacharbeiten.

Aber schaunen wir mal.

Ich habe die Version auf meinem GO7 XSR installiert. Positiv ist mir aufgefallen, dass ein Tiefen-Offset jetzt überall berücksichtigt wird. Vorher wurde er nur im Sounder-Modul berücksicht, in der Datenleiste aber nicht.

Gestern wollte ich wie gewohnt die Tracks der letzten Fahrten als GPX exportieren um sie über WLAN mit auf mein Smartphone zu übertragen. Doch leider hat SIMRAD den entsprechenden Menüpunkt einfach entfernt. Offenbar soll man gezwungen werden, die neue App zu benutzen, die es für Android nur als Beta-Version gibt und für die man einen C-Map Account benötigt (ich habe Navionics-Karten).  Ich finde das sehr ärgerlich.
Hat hier jemand schon Erfahrungen mit der App und dem Synchronisreren von Tracks und Waypoints gemacht?

Habe ich natürlich gemacht - da war die Exportfunktion auch bei der 18er Version, soweit ich mich erinnere. Jetzt kann man nur noch eine Region exportieren. Der Export-Button mit Auswahlmöglichkeit des Formats (z.B. gpx) ist weg. Ich glaube, ich mache ein Downgrade auf die 18.3

Aber was heißt den, man kann nur eine Region exportieren. Diese Funktion war bisher auch schon fehlerhaft bei den LOwrance-Geräten.
Was ist, wenn Du darauf gehst - ist da gpx noch als Exportformat enthalten?

Was willst Du denn machen (z. B. welche App auf dem Smartphone), denn es gibt ja auch noch andere Wege und seine Daten auf andere Geräte zu bekommen?

Ich lege pro Fahrt / pro Tag einen Track an, das macht das Gerät automatisch (Funktion TripIntel).

Mit der Export-Funktion konnte ich bisher je Tag/Track eine Datei im GPX-Format auf die SD-Karte exportieren.  Von da habe ich sie dann per FTP auf mein Smartphone gesichert und mit nach Hause genommen.
Die Export-Funktion mit Auswahl des Formats gibt es jetzt nicht mehr.  Bei "Export-Region" kann man per "Gummiband" einen Bereich markieren. Dazu muss man aber auf der Karte genau wissen, wo der gewünschte Track liegt. Das ist so umständlich, dass mir beim Versuch schon die Lust vergangen ist und ich es nicht weiter verfolgt habe. Ich will ja einfach nur eine vorhandene Trackdatei eines Tages exportieren!

Das geht nun nach der neuen Release-Beschreibung nur noch mit der Simrad-App, die allerdings bisher nur als Beta-Version vorliegt. Und genau so funktioniert sie auch, näcmlich gar nicht.  Schon der Verbindungsversuch zwischen GO7 und Smartphone scheitert mit einer kryptischen Fehlermeldung.

Ich bereue es inzwischen, ein Simrad-Produkt gekauft zu haben. Hier reift dei Software offenbar erst beim User.

Wenn wir uns recht entsinnen, können aber nur für Lowrance sprechen, dann werden bei dem Gesamt-Export, alle WP, Tracks und Routen zusammenm exportiert, man kann diese nicht einzeln auswählen, es sein denn man versucht es mit der Regionsauswahl. Daher gehen wir davon aus, dass Du die Tracks immer wieder löschst, bevor es neu auf Wasser losgeht.

Machst Du uns bitte mal noch einen Screenshot wie oben der zweite mit dem neuen Update wo nur der Regionenexport zu sehen sein soll.
Wir fragen dann mal bei Navico nach.
